I have worked as a psychotherapist since 1994. My
initial training was in psychology and I later specialised in
psychotherapy. Since qualifying I have worked in private practice and as a
trainer and lecturer in Trinity College Dublin, Dublin
Business School,
PCI College and the Tivoli Institute.
The way I work is influenced by the different
psychotherapy trainings I have undertaken. These include a diploma in
psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Tivoli Institute, Dun
Laoghaire, followed by a diploma in Gestalt therapy, and a
Masters in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at Trinity College Dublin.
Why
With
a greater understanding of what motivates our behaviour, change can occur.
Old and often unhelpful patterns in relationship and how we live our lives
are exposed. This allows new and more life enhancing options to open up.
Learning to language our deepest experiences enables a more intimate self
relationship to unfold. This developing self relationship enriches all our
other relationships.
How
All this takes place within the confidential
relationship between psychotherapist and client. A relationship based on
acceptance, positive regard and trust in the innate wisdom each individual
holds within him or her self.
I work with individuals,
couples, groups and as an accredited supervisor for psychotherapists. I
also run an experiential group therapy on a weekly basis, and I take small
groups of pre and post accredited psychotherapists for supervision. I am an
accredited supervisor with IACP and IAHIP.
